Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships: Boston Will See the Clipper and Star Return June 1 for Boston Harborfest

Boston Harbor will soon see tall ships again, as the Liberty Fleet schooners prepare to return to the harbor on June 1.

The 125-foot Schooner Liberty Clipper spends the winter quartered in the Bahamas and the 67-foot Schooner Liberty Star gets quartered in the Virgin Islands over the winter.

Both ships will be ready for Boston Harbor day sails, which includes spectacular sunset sails, Rum and Revolution sails, Boston Tea Party Reenactment Sails and Boston Sunday Brunch Sails.

The schooners were founded in 1995 when Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships was created to offer sailing experiences on traditional tall ships. They have since become an integral part of Boston Harborfest.

Boston Harborfest is a Fourth of July Festival that showcases the colonial and maritime heritage of the area where the American Revolution began, highlighting the historic city of Boston. It is an award-winning festival in its 32nd year that honors and remembers the past, educating visitors as well as providing entertainment, both activities which the schooners play a large role in, during the reenactments for the largest patriotic festival in the nation.

Both ships also offer bed and breakfast accommodations for those so inclined.

The Liberty Clipper offers a sunset sail from 6 to 8 p.m. where passengers can reserve a private deluxe cabin for two and enjoy a continental breakfast before walking to nearby famous sites such as Faneuil Hall and strolling along the Freedom Trail.

During Boston Harborfest, passengers can enjoy a traditional sailing ship experience as they sail the harbor with the USS Constitution and then watch the sun set over Boston's skyline.

The schooners are also available for private charters, corporate events and wedding related charters. Information is available on the Liberty Fleet web site. Reservations can also be made by calling 617-742-0333 and asking for Tom Crowley or Tom Hollyday.
