Norwegian Getaway to Feature Musical Legally Blonde On Board

The musical "Legally Blonde" will makes its way to Norwegian Cruise Lines ship, The Norwegian Getaway. USA Today reported that Getaway is a 4,028 passenger ship and Norwegian's executives made the announcement during New York's Norwegian Breakaway inaugural festivities.

The Norwegian Breakaway arrived in New York earlier this week after a trip across the Atlantic from Europe. It is one of the biggest ships ever built and to welcome the shop into NYC there has been a host of activities.

USA Today reported that Radio City Music Hall's Rockettes will be the godmothers for the ship that can fit up to 4,028 people. The party also includes an appearance by NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg.

"This state-of-the-art ship will feature the best of what the current fleet has to offer such as the exclusive Haven, a relaxing pampering spa and a plethora of dining options," says Norwegian Cruise Lines website about the Breakaway. "Guests will enjoy all the flexibility that Freestyle Cruising has to offer while sailing to the picturesque island of Bermuda. From award winning cuisine, family fun and daily entertainment as well as a wonderful staff and crew the Norwegian Breakaway is sure to be a destination all on its own."

The Norwegian Getaway is scheduled to debut in January 2014 and to sail year round to the Eastern Caribbean out of Miami.

"Legally Blonde" opened on Broadway in 2007 and closed in 2008. The show also played in London's West End and is touring in Australia.

"Legally Blonde is just the latest Broadway show to debut on a cruise ship. The new Norwegian Breakaway features Rock of Ages in its main theater, and Royal Caribbean has added Hairspray and Chicago: The Musical to its newest ships," reported USA Today.

The Norwegian Breakaway will be based around New York year round making it the largest ship to be based in the city.
