Small luxury hotels are doing well. The first quarter results for Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) is maintaining outstanding success in 2013 with steady business growth in the first quarter results, according to BreakingTravelNews.com.
In 2012, SLH had the best year in the group's 21-year history. They have reported having a year on year six percent increase in growth in room nights booked and they have added to their portfolio, increasing their number of properties around the world.
During that same period, the average room rate has fallen by four percent year on year to approximately $320 per night as the SLH customers are continuing to demand value for their money when booking hotel rooms. They remain careful with their spending, even for luxury hotel experiences.
The Club has seen dramatic growth as well, with the addition of a new Chinese web site launching this summer. The number of Club members is expected to increase even further after the launch.
"In 2012 we had a lot to talk about, to have our most successful year to date in the middle of a global recession is no small feat," Paul Kerr, the chief executive of SLH, said. "The team this year has lofty goals, and that is to build on the success of 2012.
"Fortunately, we are reaching those goals, mainly thanks to our guest recognition club," he added. "The club, with a three tier structure including Special, Loved and Honored levels, gives members fantastic benefits the more they stay with us."
SLH has welcomed over 19,000 club members in this first quarter of this year, according to Kerr. That is a 52 percent increase on the guests that stayed with them last year, and brings the club membership up to 216,000 members.
"Reservations from members have also grown by 11 percent from last year, which is remarkable," Kerr added. "There is nothing small about the first quarter results for Small Luxury Hotels of the World, which is maintaining its outstanding success in 2013 with steady business growth."
