Delta Air Lines Sends Two Bodies to the Wrong Funeral Homes

Delta Air Lines has issued an apology after a mix-up cause two bodies were sent to the wrong funeral homes.

According to WLTX, two caskets were on the same Delta flight out of New York's LaGuardia airport, but Delta shipping clerks managed to but the wrong shipping labels on the caskets.

Due to the mistake, a casket that was supposed to be brought to Virginia wound up in South Carolina while the other was in Virginia. One of the funerals had to be delayed a day because of the mix-up. The other funeral was able to go on as scheduled but the family was a bit nervous as the real body only arrived two hours before the funeral.

The airline has now released an apology over the incident.

"Delta deeply regrets this unfortunate situation. We are investigating the matter and will work closely with the family during this difficult time," Delta spokesman Russell Carson said to WABC of New York when asked about the Virginia family.

One of the families was not happy about the incident.

The family and friends of Stanley Williams, whose body was sent to South Carolina instead of Virginia, said the mix-up made the grieving process more difficult. Williams, 50, died tragically while he was trying to cross New York City's Harlem River Drive.

"It's hard enough that you have to bury one of your loved ones and then to find out that the airline screwed up and prolonged the process, it's crazy, it's unbelievable," Williams' friend Josette Cerutti says to WABC.

The other family found the situation to be unbelievable but they saw the humor in the sitatuon.

"You hear about this stuff happening on TV, but not to our family, you know?" Latasha Crumpton tells WLTX. Her uncle, Purdy Walker, had passed away and his body was accidentally sent to Virginia instead of South Carolina. She said that Purdy was a big jokester who probably would have enjoyed the mix-up.

"I'm sure he's laughing about it," Crumpton says, before adding: "I know he is. He went with the flow."
