Hilton Worldwide is expanding its DoubleTree by Hilton hotel brand to Australia, where it plans to rebrand four hotels in the Northern Territory when they open on May 1.
DoubleTree by Hilton is the hotel company's fastest growing full-service brand. The new hotels, the DoubleTree by Hilton Darwin, DoubleTree by Hilton Esplanade Darwin and the DoubleTree by Hilton Alice Springs will open next to the Hilton Darwin in the Territory.
"We are delighted to be able to introduce the DoubleTree by Hilton brand to the Australian market and to add another Hilton Hotel & Resort in the region's most significant areas of growth," Ashley Spencer, the vice president of operations in Australasia for Hilton Worldwide, told BreakTravelNews.com. "We have been looking to enter into the Northern Territory for some time and are committed to making these properties the leading full-service hotels in the market."
The hotels are all located next to popular tourist destinations and travel experiences those traveling to Australia look for. They're also in prime locations for business travelers in the mining and resource industries.
Darwin is the capital on the Northern Territory and the gateway to the popular outback destinations, such as Kakadu National Park and the Katharine Gorge.
The city has a population of 129,000 and is best known for a laid-back lifestyle, markets and festivals, Asian cuisine and a large natural harbor, bigger than Sydney's better-known harbor.
Alice Springs is in the center of Australia and is the departure town for travelers visiting the famous red rock Uluru, which is a five-hour drive from the city center.
"The launch of the DoubleTree by Hilton in Australia, our 30th country and sixth continent, marks the beginning of a very exciting expansion for our brand," said John Greenleaf, the global head of DoubleTree by Hilton. "We are thrilled to open not one, but three hotels in Australia's extraordinary Northern Territory and look forward to introducing Australian travelers to the superior level of caring service synonymous with DoubleTree by Hilton, epitomized by our warm chocolate chip cookie welcome for every guest at check-on."
The new locations look to take advantage of travelers to the Australian bush for walkabouts and hiking and other popular outback activity.
