Bruce Campbell is dead. At least that's what the Internet is saying. However the "Evil Dead" actor didn't die. He's just the victim of an Internet death hoax. Bruce Campbell is just fine.
A report surfaced this week by Global Associated News, saying that Campbell died after falling off a cliff. The report reads "Actor Bruce Campbell died while filming a movie in New Zealand early this morning - April 25, 2013.
Preliminary reports from New Zealand Police officials indicate that the actor fell more than 60 feet to his death on the Kauri Cliffs while on-set. Specific details are not yet available.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +12)."
Some might have believed the story, but it isn't real. Global Associated News creates fake stories. A message at the bottom of the site reads, "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! this story was dynamically generated using a generic 'template' and is not factual. Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by web site visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank 'non-specific' template for the purpose of entertainment."
Bruce Campbell isn't dead. Even he knows it. The actor has an active Twitter account and has been tweeting as the death rumors swirled. Word of the rumor got back to him and he addressed it with humor.
"@bellsbaybee: seen this? https://bruce.campbell.mediafetcher.com/news/top_stories/actor_new_zealand.php ... #sadtimes" Sad that I am dead. I'll miss me. RIP BC =SNIFF=," the actor tweeted.
Some fans found out about the story and took to Twitter to mourn and question the loss. Some examples of tweets include:
"People are saying that Bruce Campbell died today in New Zealand..can anybody confirm or deny this ?? I just woke up"
"I hate hearing rumors that @GroovyBruce has died because I hate crawling up into a fetal position and crying"
"There reports that #BruceCampbell died while filming in New Zealand during a stunt-he reportedly fell 60 feet while doing a stunt. So Sad :(
