Jennifer Aniston had a very awkward encounter on Wednesday night.
While dining with fiancé Justin Theroux, as well as her girlfriend Chelsea Handler and her boyfriend, Andre Balazs, on a double date at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles, the 44-year-old actress found herself seated two tables away from her ex-boyfriend, musician John Mayer.
The group wasn't aware that Mayer was already at the restaurant, sources told People.
Mayer "saw her when she came in," according to the sources. Aniston did not react and just enjoyed her meal with her fiancé and friends.
"There was a bottle of wine on Jen's table," the source said. "Looked like a cute dinner with friends.
"They are all having fun and Jen and Justin look very sweet together," the source said.
Mayer was reportedly dining with a male friend and the two groups didn't interact. Mayer and Aniston previously frequented the Sunset Tower Hotel restaurant when they were dating. Aniston is still a regular and is often spotting dining there with friends or Theroux.
The former couple had dated on and off for a year before finally breaking up in March 2009. Aniston then got engaged to Theroux last August. The couple had been dating for more than a year at the time of their engagement. Little is known about their wedding plans.
Even Handler, one of Aniston's best friends, recently admitted that she doesn't know any details about the wedding as a precaution to keep them quiet, saying it is due to privacy concerns.
"I know she's engaged but that's all I know," Handler recently told talk show host Katie Couric. "I'm sure I'll find out about it when it's about to happen."
The break-up between Aniston and Mayer may have been somewhat acrimonious. Shortly after, he spoke to the media about the relationship, saying some things about Aniston that weren't very complimentary.
