Sandra Bullock and the other cast and crew members of "The Heat" will hold an advance screening of the film to show their appreciation for the Boston law enforcement.
Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy star in a comedic film about Boston law enforcement called "The Heat." They filmed the movie in Boston with the help of law enforcement members.
As a way to give back, Director Paul Feig announced that he is arranging an advance screening of the film which is supposed to hit theaters on June 28. As Boston is going through a difficult time following the Boston Marathon bombing, Feig wants to show support for the city, CNN reports.
"The movie is such a love letter to Boston," Feig said, according to CNN. "A lot of our cast are Boston people, either born or raised. So we really would like to support that city. I love that city."
Bullock stars as an FBI agent who goes to Boston for an investigation in the film.
"It's been an amazing tight-knit community before this happened, and it just bonded a community even more," Bullock said. "I don't think a screening would ever be enough, feel like it's enough to do for them."
McCarthy plays a Boston cop who butts heads with Bullock's character in the film.
"It's a remarkable place, an amazing city that's obviously going through a really tough situation," McCarthy said. "I have a sweet spot for it now."
Feig said that the law enforcement members who are busy trying to hunt down the Boston marathon bombing suspects, were a big help throughout filming.
"They are some of the finest people I've ever worked with," he said. "Boston is in good hands if they have to go through something like this. They are in the best hands possible."
Bullock also gave some props to the Boston-based film crew that worked around the clock to make this last-minute film a possibility and a success.
"Usually, there's chaos and things fall apart, but because of them, it held together the way that it did, and I really feel like the reason this film got made in the way that it did is because of that group: the Bostonians."
No date has been set for the advance screening, but Feig is working on getting it settled.
