To say Carnival cruise is having a bad week would be an understatement. It would be more accurate to say they're having a bad month, or even year, and some new pricing reflects their situation.
Even in the face of all the trouble the cruise line is dealing with, the public is still interested in finding good deals on a cruise.
Carnival is responding to that demand, as are some other cruise lines, by offering cabins on board at very low rates.
In addition to all the recent bad publicity, it is also what is known as "shoulder season" in the cruise industry, the period of time between spring break and summer, when kids are in school and cruise lines need to fill their ships with passengers.
The low prices still benefit the cruise line because they depart whether one cabin had been booked or the entire ship. If they get passengers onboard through low prices, they still hope to make money through spending on board the ship, on alcohol, spa treatments and shore excursions.
Some cruise lines are offering deals of less than $50 per night per person. The price includes meals and on-board entertainment, but does not include taxes and fees, which are themselves approximately $50 a day.
Royal Caribbean is offering a three-night Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Grandeur of the Seas from Colon, Panama, to San Juan, Puerto Rico from $69 per person for an inside cabin, which is $23 per person per night. A balcony is $56 per night.
Carnival is offering a five-night Bahamas cruise from Jacksonville, Florida, on the ship Fascination. It will make calls in Half Moon Cay and Nassau in the Bahamas before returning to Jacksonville. It's priced at $48 per person per night.
For cruise lovers willing to take the chance, now is a great time to find a low priced cruise.
