Gansevoort Las Vegas: Popular New York Hotel to Open a Location on the Strip

The well-known New York Hotel, the Gansevoort, is scheduled to open on the Las Vegas strip in early 2014.

The new location will replace Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon, which closed earlier this year for renovation and rebranding. It's on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road.

The Gansevoort will feature 188 Parisian apartment-style rooms, including 19 suites that were designed by Tandem Las Vegas, an interior and concept design company. Rates will start at $249 a night, and provide a "more personalized experience" compared to the other, much larger properties on the strip, said Gansevoort founder Michael Achenbaum. There will also be a redesigned lobby bar, as well as retail outlets, a restaurant overlooking the Strip and a 40,000 square-foot casino.

Drai's After Hours, a staple of Las Vegas nightlife that closed in January and had been located in the basement of Bill's Gambling Hall for 15 years, until that property closed in January, will be reopening in the same location. There will also be a new Drai's Beach Club and Nightclub, which will be a 65,000 square foot indoor and outdoor nightclub with a rooftop pool.

"We wanted to bring a partner who had not just expertise, but a passion for creating something really unique," Tariq Shaukat, the chief marketing officer for Caesars Entertainment told USA Today.

The Gansevoort hotel brand currently operates three hotels: the Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC, the Gansevoort Park Avenue NYC and the Gansevoort Turks & Caicos.

The Las Vegas location is expected to employ 1,000 people. It will be the newest hotel on the strip, taking the title from Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace, currently the Strip's newest property. Nobu Hotel has 181 rooms at Caesars Palace. It opened on February 4, 2012 as the first celebrity chef-branded hotel in Las Vegas.
