There are no bones about it: Dick Cheney is scared out of his wits.
That's the only explanation for his blunt assessment of the situation in North Korea, where leader Kim Jong Un and his government officials have been threatening to go to war with their southern neighbors for weeks.
The 72 year-old former Vice President stopped to visit GOP lawmakers Tuesday, where he expressed his unabashed trepidation concerning the crisis on the Korean peninsula.
"We're in deep doo doo," he told Republican leaders.
The Huffington Post claims Cheney is concerned about the unstable, unpredictable leader Jung Un, adding that, "you never know what they're thinking."
His nerves are being shaken with good reason: not only have there been shouts and threats of war, Kim also warned the United States they might take a pre-emptive strike against the U.S. Not to mention North Korean officials have reportedly authorized a nuclear strike on America.
Jay Carney, White House spokesperson confirmed in March that the United States is "fully capable of defending against any North Korean ballistic missile attack."
CNN recently reported on the potential missile test, "The Obama administration now calculates it is likely North Korea may test fire mobile ballistic missiles at any time based on the most recent U.S. intelligence showing it is likely the North Koreans have completed all launch preparations."
Then, they confirmed that North Korean missiles were fueled up and ready to be launched at any time.
Despite all the reports, many more are merely taking the threats at face value: most South Koreans wager these warnings are nothing more than bluffs.
After a handful of travel agencies and tour operators in Dandong, China reportedly closed their tours to neighboring North Korea, it seemed that life still was going as usual: cars and trucks traversed between the border with ease.
