Kevin Bacon Apology: Actor Accidentally Tweets Spoiler for his Show 'The Following'

Kevin Bacon will think twice about his live tweets during his show "The Following," after he inadvertently tweeted a spoiler before international audiences had the chance to see the episode.

The actor, who plays FBI agent Ryan Hardy on the hit serial-killer drama, apologized to fans after revealing a spoiler on Tuesday, not realizing international viewers hadn't seen the episode yet.

The tweet below contains a SPOILER, for anyone who's still behind.

After the most recent episode, "The Curse" aired, a television producer and director, Jodi Gomes, tweeted a compliment to Bacon and Kevin Williamson, the show's creator, saying, "@kevinbacon is a murderer too! Nice twist!"

Bacon was proud of the compliment and retweeted it to all of his followers (there is a little irony there, for fans of the show). He has more than 234,000 followers, some of which are international, where the show had not aired yet in their home countries.

The actor responded swiftly, posting a video of himself repeating, "My bad," over and over. He followed it with another tweet.

"To all the fans abroad and late watchers I'm truly sorry I retweeted a spoiler," he posted. "I just wasn't thinking."

"Won't happen again. #MyBad," he finished.

Bacon's chracter is an FBI agent who is brought back on the job as a consultant after a serial killer he had been instrumental in capturing escapes from prison. The killer, Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) has a large group of cult followers who will do anything, including kill, to help their leader succeed in his plans.

The show was developed by Williamson, who was looking for someone like Bacon, when his agent replied, "What about Kevin Bacon?"

"The Following" airs and Fox and has already been renewed for a second season.
