Kate Middleton is experiencing what is quite possibly the most watched pregnancy in history. This week, while on a trip to Glasgow, she discussed the pregnancy with well-wishers and gave a hint as to the baby's due date.
Middleton told Rachel Sawyer, one of the well wishers, that she is due "around mid-July, but apparently babies have their own agenda."
And as for the baby's name?
"We have a short list for both but it's very difficult," said the Duchess. "My friends keep texting me boy and girl names."
The Duchess delighted her adoring audience during the visit, where she was accompanying husband Prince William. In Scotland, she is known by the title Countess of Strathearn.
Sawyer asked the Duchess when she would be able to relax, after enduring a difficult early pregnancy.
"Around June time," Middleton said.
Middleton is planning a baby shower before the upcoming birth as well, which is a break in royal tradition. Neither Queen Elizabeth nor Queen Victoria before her had showers when their children were born.
"It was her sister Pippa's idea," a source told OK! Magazine. "While it's all going to be very relaxed and fun, Kate is hoping the queen will drop by because the two are remarkably close."
"They bonded big time and really enjoy each other's company," the source continued. "Since this is going to be a first for royals, Kate would love the queen to be part of it."
The Middleton family business is party planning, so Pippa can take care of everything.
"Pippa is in charge of decorations," the source said. "Wine and beer will be available, not that Kate will be drinking alcohol, of course. There will certainly be none of the hard stuff."
The birth of their child will be an international event, heavily covered by media around the world.
