Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has been granted a continuance after failing to appear in court on Tuesday for her hearing on two charges of driving with a suspended license.
Bynes faces two misdemeanor charges after being pulled over by police in Burbank, California in September after her license had been revoked.
The case went before a judge for a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, but Bynes, 26, failed to appear. She has pleaded not guilty and due to her absence, her lawyer, Richard Hutton, had to request a continuance in the case. He said the delay was the result of waiting to receive signed papers from his client.
Bynes was photographed walking around New York with a Fed Ex envelope, so the papers may be on the way.
Judge Margaret Oldendorf, who is presiding over the case, granted the motion, but stressed the need to move the case forward and set a new pre-trial date for May.
Bynes also faces a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) relating to a separate incident last year, when she was accused of two counts of hit-and-run, leading to her losing her license in September. The latter charges were dropped in December.
Her recent actions have led to her becoming somewhat of a punch line.
"But if you don't want Amanda Bynes to drive with a suspended license, why did you build the courthouse so far from her house?!" Perez Hilton, a popular blogger, wrote on his website.
Bynes has also taken to posting vague platitudes on her Twitter account, such as "Win from within," and "If you don't get jealous, it's because you don't care."
Her latest tweet read, "It's all about me."
The actress has been posting many self-portraits, including a close up of her cleavage. Bynes, who moved to New York, was last seen walking the streets there with a pink hairstyle.
