The line announced on Tuesday that their Oasis of the Seas ship will "offer its first-ever cruises in Europe during a one-month skip across the pond for routine maintenance in 2014," according to USA Today.
Royal Caribbean International said in a press release that "the 225,282-ton, 5,400-passenger Oasis would offer two cruises to and from Europe, and three within, during a short autumn season."
The Oasis, which, along with its younger sister ship, Allure of the Seas, shares the title of world's biggest cruise ship, has been operating Caribbean cruises out of Fort Lauderdale since it debuted in December 2009.
However, this will change starting on Sept. 1, 2014, when the Oasis will present their passengers with two trans-Atlantic crossings to and from Europe, "a 12-night eastbound cruise from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona, and a 13-night westbound cruise returning to Florida from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, on Oct. 14. Travelers can also embark on the return cruise in Southampton, England, on Oct. 15," according to Royal Caribbean's website.
Once in Europe, the Oasis will have three sailing options: "two round-trip, five-night Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona, and a seven-night sailing from Barcelona to Rotterdam, where the Oasis will enter drydock," reported USA Today.
Royal Caribbean said, in their press release, that "the seven-night cruise would call at Malaga and Vigo, Spain, while the five-night itineraries will be detailed before the cruises open for sale this April 11."
