Golfers got an unexpected surprise at a Florida golf course on Tuesday.
After hearing what they thought might be gun shots at around 5 p.m., the golfers eventually discovered the bodies of two females in the grass.
According to Lt. James McQuaig, the Sheriff's Office spokesman for Leon County, the golfers were playing at Hilaman Golf Course in Tallahassee.
The bodies were discovered in a grassy area between an apartment complex that bordered the golf course.
"They made the discovery. They called 911 and they waited for us to get there," Sheriff McQuaig told reporters.
McQuaig said the golfers did not witness anyone fleeing the scene after hearing the gunshots.
The names of the victims have not been released and their ages are unknown. The police are investigating the crime, though have not discussed any suspects or possible motives. Autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday.
Hilaman Golf Course is lined with apartment complexes.
It is an 18-hole golf course located in the center of Tallahassee on Blair Stone Road. It was formerly Winewood Country Club, and was purchased by the city in December of 1981.
Hilaman Park completed renovations of the course in 1999. The course is named for former city commissioner Sheldon "Shad" Hilaman. The facilities have tennis courts, a driving range, a restaurant and a pro golf shop.
