Lambs Break Into Easter Tourist Attraction and Eat Chocolate Eggs

Two lambs couldn't wait to dig in to their Easter goodies. They broke into a popular tourist attraction and tried to eat millions of chocolate eggs.

The little lambs and a ewe wreaked havoc at the popular tourist attraction of Wookey Hole Caves in Somerset. The staff think that the sheep broke in to the store to escape the cold, but they were also a bit hungry, the Mirror reports.

The staff will have to destroy and discard thousands of chocolate eggs after they were just delivered for the Easter holiday. Luckily the supplier agreed to deliver more in time for celebration.

"The eggs were delivered at the weekend and somehow this ewe and her lambs got out of their usual accommodation and made their way in there. We think it was a bit warmer in there or maybe the smell of the chocolate attracted them," General manager Daniel Medley told The Mirror.

"It was pretty clear from the chocolate stuck to their wool who was responsible. There were pallets with 250,000 eggs on them and we believe a few thousand will have to be destroyed," Medley continued.

The suppliers found the incident to be funny and agreed to deliver more chocolate eggs before Good Friday. The eggs are particularly important because they're part of an Easter egg competition that goes on until April 13 and the chocolate eggs serve as prizes.

"The baby lambs are usually very popular with the children at Easter but so are the chocolate eggs," Medley said. "They are so cute that we couldn't be too angry with them. We may get them to stand in the naughty corner over the weekend as a punishment."

Despite the mishap and unusually cold weather, Medley believes the attraction will still draw in a lot of tourists.

"For Somerset tourist attractions Easter is the first big weekend of the year. It looks like being a chilly week this year but thankfully most of our attractions, such as the caves, our special Easter circus and the play areas are all indoors so we are expecting a lot of visitors," Medley said. "The caves are as constant 11 degrees all year round so they tend to feel warm this time of year.
