Vice President Joe Biden likes to live in luxury when he goes away. Unfortunately it's on the taxpayer's dollar. A recent one day trip to Paris cost taxpayers $585,000.50
Biden and his entourage spent one night in the luxurious the Hotel Intercontinental Paris Le Grand and he rented more than 100 rooms, the Daily Mail reports.
The Weekly Standard reported the big bill after they found the official contact filing online, which showed that the government paid more than half a million dollars for the stay.
The Vice President likely rented out more than 100 rooms in the Hotel Intercontinental Paris Le Grand, though they must not have gotten a group discount rate.
The only thing that was missing was the details of the five-star stay. The Daily mail speculated that Biden stayed in the two-room Presidential Suite, priced at 2,975 euros per night. The hotel doesn't offer a Vice Presidential Suite.
The Presidential suite is a 1,851-square foot room with an interconnecting entertainment area, marble bathrooms and "upscale" linens.
Biden's wife, Dr. Jill Biden, joined along for the trip. They first stopped in Germany then went on to Paris and London.
When conservatives found out about the high hotel price tag, they were not too happy. Many pointed out that Biden's trip came just three weeks before the sequester budget cuts went into effect.
Political pundit Ann Coulter took to Twitter to make a joke about the expensive bill, saying "we need to keep him out of the mini-bar."
When Biden went on to stay at the Hyatt Regency in London, his stay came out to $459,388.65., which was about $100,000 less than his grand Paris stay. For the London stay, Biden and his crew booked 136 rooms. He was in London to meet with Prime Minister David Cameron.
