Minibars can be expensive no matter what destination you go to, but some destinations actually have pricier minibars than others.
According to TripAdvisor, hotel room extras vary depending on where you go. For instance, travelers can find bargains in Cape Town while they can pay as much as four times as much for a pack of nuts in Moscow, the Daily Mail reports.
The survey included things such as room service orders, drinks from the minibar and dry cleaning. According to the survey, Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, Mumbai in India and Istanbul in Turkey offer the best values at hotels.
While those countries offered deals, Moscow, Paris and Stockholm had high prices on the same items. For instance, a packet of peanuts cost $1.81 in Cape Town but the same item cost $12.03 in Moscow.
Another example is a club sandwich that cost $6.21 in Cape Town but $21.09 in Moscow and $28.23 in Zurich.
The survey also took bottled water, a can of soda, a mini bottle of vodka and dry cleaning into consideration when researching the four-star hotels.
These items cost $19.07 in Cape Town, $23.09 in Sharm el Sheikh and $24.60 in Mumbai. Hotels in Jakarta, Indonesia, Marrakech, Morocco and Taipei, Taiwan also had good values.
The same items cost $80.21 in Moscow, $66.78 in Paris and $66.48 in Stockholm. . Oslo, Helsinki and Tokyo hotels were also found to be pricey.
"For those willing to shell out a bit more on flights, it seems there is money to be saved in south east Asia or Africa," said TripAdvisor's Emma Shaw. "For Brits looking to stay a little closer to home in Europe, there is a price to pay and that price is on average more than four times as expensive."
London was just outside the top 10 priciest for hotel items at number 11.
