NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon, in the latest video-gone-viral, is seen in disguise taking a test drive at a car dealership doing dangerous stunts and causing the salesman, who was sitting in the passenger seat, to fear for his life.
However, many questions has arise as to the validity of the video.
According to pcmag.com, "the whole thing is clearly bogus-a publicity stunt for both Pepsi and Chevrolet. With liability laws it would be impossible."
Using a video camera hidden in a can of Pepsi Max, the salesman is heard shouting at Gordon, "You're an idiot!"
Upon arriving back to the dealership, the salesman flipped out and told the in-disguise Gordon "I'm calling the cops!"
However, Gordon quickly reveals his true-self and all becomes good.
But, pcmag.com does bring up another good point about the legal issues at play if this stunt was real.
"No modern American company would undertake a "practical joke" like this, putting the passenger in danger of not only an accident, but also a heart attack. Can you image what Pepsi lawyers would have said if the company actually tried to swing this for real?"
Then, pcmag.com breaks down the stunt even further talking about how the car happened to be a Chevy Camaro, the same company that makes his NASCAR car.
The other good questions brought up:
Why did Gordon have to sign a waiver?
Why does he jerk the car out of the parking spot as if he can't drive a clutch when the car is an automatic?
Webpronews.com states "Of course, the entire thing has been staged. Pepsi hasn't come out and said so, but the used car salesman's dialogue is cringeworthy. Saying the name Mike over and over to reinforce the notion he doesn't suspect the driver is Gordon is particularly bad. Also, shots from some sort of dashboard camera can be seen during the video, and the fine print 'CLOSED COURSE. PROFESSIONAL DRIVER. DO NOT ATTEMPT ]sic].' is a pretty big give away."
