Instead of watching screen built in to the back of seats with limited programming, Australian carrier Qantas Airline is providing passengers with individual iPads for in-flight entertainemnt.
According to MacRumors, Passengers on Qantas flight between Sydney and Honolulu on the airline's Boeing 767 aircraft will be able to use this service in which they'll be given an iPad for entertainment purposes during the flight. The iPads can stream more than 200 hours of movies, TV shows and music. Those sitting in every class of the revamped Boeing 767 will receive an iPad. This plane was recently revamped with new carpeting, lighting, curtains, and cabin dividers, as well as leather seat covers in business class.
The entertainment programs are streamed right to the iPads using the plane's in-flight entertainment technology, Q Streaming, which uses the plane's onboard Wi-Fi.

While the iPads are equipped with plenty of entertaining things to watch, they'll also be equipped with interactive games, travel and business-related apps and digital newspapers and magazines over the next few months.
"Our inflight entertainment programs are stored on a content server with over 18 times the storage capacity of a 64GB tablet. These programs are streamed wirelessly to Wi-Fi enabled devices via six wireless access points installed along the aircraft's ceiling," Qantas said, according to MacRumors.
"No other aircraft in Australia is fitted with this technology. You can now choose from a library of TV and audio content never before available to the Australian domestic traveller. The Q Streaming iPad available in your seat pocket will automatically connect to the wireless network when you turn it on."
