Monday's announcement that the Grammy Award-winning alternative rock band, Weezer, will be going out on their second cruise tour with Carnival starting early 2014, proves that the cruise industry is still dominated by the theme gimmick.
According to USA Today, the Weezer Cruise, as it'll once again be called, will be a four-night musical extravaganza featuring daily performances by Weezer and other bands.
Coming two years after the first Weezer cruise, the new voyage will kick off Feb. 13, 2014 on the 2,052-passenger Carnival Fascination sailing out of Jacksonville, Fla. The Bahamas voyage will include stops in Freeport and Nassau, according to Carnival's website.
Fares for the voyage start at $599 per person. Cabins will be available to attendees of the first Weezer cruise starting on March 20 at 12 noon ET, and any remaining cabins will go on sale to the general public the next day, reports USA Today.
Organizers of the cruise, Rose Tours, confirmed that three other bands will be joining Weezer at "the music festival-at-sea," which also includes a beach concert on the band's own private island.
Rose Tours says participants also will get a chance to see Weezer off-stage during a fan Q&A session; an interactive Weezer game show; and a photo session with the band. There also will be evening theme nights and other activities, according to USA Today.
Musicconnection.com states that the cruise is will give fans a rare chance to see their favorite musicians off-stage, with a special fan Q&A session with Weezer; an interactive Weezer Game Show; and a photo session for all guests with the band. There will also be evening Theme Nights; complimentary meals; a one-hour open bar Cocktail Party; and much more.
