A boy who was reportedly bullied has passed away on Sunday in Philadelphia. Yahoo News reported that the boy, Bailey O'Neill, was taken off life support according to his family. He had turned 12 on Saturday and was in an induced coma since January after he was beaten by two classmates on a playground during recess.
O'Neill who is in 6th grade suffered a concussion and a broken nose and had seizures which forced doctor's to put him into an induced coma. An NBC Affiliate in Philadelphia reported that O'Neill's classmates attacked him and they have been suspended from the Darby Township School but no criminal charges have been fined. Investigators are trying to find out whether or not the seizures were because of the attack that occurred.
A message on the Building Hope for Bailey Facebook page read, "He has fought this battle long and hard. There just wasn't a way to fix this. I wish I could say he will get better but I can't. Bailey has gone to be with God today."
Bailey's father Rob O'Neill said to WPV1 last month that after the incident Bailey wasn't right.
"He was sleeping. He was moody. He wasn't himself. He was angry a little bit. He wasn't really eating," Bailey's father said.
Afther Bailey was treated for his injuries after the bullying incident, he started to have seizures. A friend of his parents said to ABC News that Bailey was having refractory status epilepsies which is a condition in the brain that causes persistent seizure.
On Feb. 7 Bailey's father Rob said to ABC local, "I want to hear his voice, his mother wants to hear his voice."
Bailey then had to have a blood transfusion after he got pneumonia and doctor's then put him in an induced coma at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children reported ABC News.
"I would like to see these kids punished," Joy Fecanin, Bailey's grandmother said to NBC 10 last month. "Something has to be done. I don't know what's taking them so long."
