No one has seen or heard from Casey Anthony since being acquitted of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, in July, 2011, but she has come out of seclusion for a meeting with the creditors in her bankruptcy case in Tampa, Fla.
The Huffington Post reports that the 27-year-old Anthony was dressed all in black and arrived with her attorney several hours early for the meeting on Monday. Her hair was long and dark and she was carrying a black hat and wearing black heels and stockings. She appeared flustered and hurried and did not address the media following her.
Anthony filed for bankruptcy in Florida in late January, claiming about $1,000 in assets and $792,000 in liabilities. Court papers list Anthony as unemployed, with no recent income.
During the meeting, she could be asked about who's been supporting her financially. She could also be asked about whether she has plans to sell her story, experts say, according to Chicago Tribune.
Charles Greene, Casey's lawyer, told WESH that Casey had been "living on the kindness of friends for the most part. There are people that believe in her that will see her through this ordeal."
Greene said that Casey filed for bankruptcy to stop people from coming after her with lawsuits. He notes that she could capitalize on her story, but she refuses to do so.
"She wants people to just leave her alone," Charles said. "She's had multiple opportunities to do tell-all book deals, to do tell-all interviews for a lot of money. That's not what she's trying to do. She wants this over so she can finally have the time to mourn, not only about the the loss of her daughter, but the loss of her life."
Anthony's creditors include numerous people associated with her murder case, including her former attorney Jose Baez and her parents, George and Cindy Anthony. It's unclear how long today's creditors' meeting will last.
