Ricky Schroder, the child star best known for his role in the 80's show "Silver Spoons," says the incident involving an airport worker at LAX was nothing more than a misunderstanding.
In an earlier reporter, Schroder was being accused of assault after he reportedly slapped a LAX airport worker. Schroder said he didn't hit the worker as originally reported, but he admits to hurting the woman's feelings. In a recent apology he told TMZ, "I apologize to you, Miss, if I hurt your feelings and I didn't mean to. Sweetheart, god bless you ... and I didn't mean to hurt your feelings."
Schroder was in the middle of a busy terminal at LAX this week when he reportedly tried to board a plane with three bags, TMZ reported. Police were soon called to the scene on Monday morning after an altercation between Schroder and a woman who was checking for boarding passes.
According to the woman, Schroder tried to go through security with three bags, however the limit is two, so she wouldn't let him board with the third. The worker said that Schroder allegedly slapped her hand when she reached for his boarding pass.
Cops were called to the scene and interviewed Schroder and the woman, but no report was taken and no one was arrested.
According TMZ, Schroder's lawyer, Marty Singer, said the airport worker was rude and confrontational when she told him that he had too much luggage. Singer said it was the woman who hit Schroder's hand which caused his phone to go flying. Schroder acted quickly to grab his phone and the woman allegedly screamed "assault!"
Singer said there were witnesses at the scene who could confirm Schroder's side of the story. He claims that he would have been arrested if the woman's story was true.
Schroder's lawyer has now taken back the claim that the woman hit Schroder.
TMZ was able to get a video of the worker telling her side of the story a few moments after it occurred, which can be seen here.
Schroder isn't the first celebrity to get into some trouble at an airport. Recently Kim Kardashian and Kanye West got into some trouble after an airport worker helped them bypass security. Once the TSA realized, they were taken off the plane a rescreened, but the airport blamed the incident on the airport worker and not the celebrity couple.
