From a wonderfully, overly complicated machine the OREO cookie and the creme can now be separated with ease. In a video for OREO's "Cookie vs creme" campaign Physicist and copywriter David Neevel explains his creme separating machine that he built in a studio in Portland, Oregon.
Neveel said that he doesn't ike the creme part of the cooking and that the machine is "entirely based on the dislike for creme and preference for cookie."
OREO's "Cookie vs. Creme" campaign website states, "Over the last hundred years, almost literally billions of productive man-hours have been lost to people splitting apart OREO cookies by hand and eating the part they prefer. In an attempt to make the world a better and more efficient place, OREO has contracted the world's best roboticists, artists and tinkerers to create machines that will do the work for us. Take a look at the future of eating OREO cookies."
In the funny video Neveel said with a straight face, "It was a big time commitment to build the machine. I had to work some long hours," he said. He also said he didn't get to see his girlfriend or dog for sometimes hours at a time and had to find a decent sandwich shop in that area of time, so therefore there were lots of sacrifices made in the name of oreo cookie separating.
Neveel says there's no name or catch phrase for his machine yet but if he had to come up with one he likes "Let's get that creme out of there" or "This creme's no good; get it off the cookies."
The video showcases the machine which separates and scrapes off the creme. At the end of the video Neveel eats the two creme free cookie halves.
The video has gone viral and been viewed on YouTube more than 200,000 times thus far with people leaving funn comments such as "I applaud your efforts, I can see your invention being sold as a combo family pack."
The "Cookie vs. Crème" campaign also has an sweepstakes with a chance to win $100,000 and an Instagram contest. The website states, "Choose a side by tagging your Instagram photo with either #cookiethis or #cremethis, and we just might re-create what's in your photo with OREO cookie or OREO creme for the whole world to see."
