Rich entrepreneur, Clive Palmer unveiled his blueprints for the replica he is creating of The Titanic, called The Titanic II.
Reuters reported that the ship is a recreation of the design and décor of the original ship however, safety modifications have been made as well as some modern twists, such as air conditioning.
"I'm not too superstitious," Palmer said to Reuters when asked about the history of the Titanic.
Approximately 1500 people died on the Titanic in 2012 after it hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic.
"Anything will sink if you put a hole in it," Palmer said to Reuters. "I think it would be very cavalier to say it."
The sales director of the Finnish company designing the ship, Markku Kanerva of Deltamarin said to Reuters that it would be the safest cruise ship in the world.
Forbes estimated that the Palmer is worth $795 million in 2012.
Palmer hopes to start construction later this year and recreate the trans-Atlantic voyage in 2016. He said to Reuters,
"But if it takes longer, it takes longer. But we'll do it. We've got a big pile of money," to Reuters.
Palmer said to Fox News that 40,000 people expressed interest in buying tickets for the voyage which will go from Southampton, England to New York.
"We all live on this planet, we all breathe the same air and, of course, the Titanic is about the things we've got in common," he said to Fox News. "It links three continents."
In July Palmer announced new details of the ship. At the time he said the vessel would have a new safety deck featuring proper lifeboats and safety slides and chutes.
The deck will also have new public rooms. Palmer told ABC news that the top decks of the ship will contain stairs, cabins and public rooms very similar to the elements and locations of the original but the new safety deck will offer different spaces not found on the original.
Plans by the Finnish-based design and engineering company, Deltamarin feature a service elevator, escape stairs and one deck has been redesigned to accommodate crew, laundry and machinery.
Palmer noted that the ship would also have a casino but said there would be a screening process. He told The Australian Associated Press, "There will be some sort of screening to make sure people who do go there can afford to."
