Free movies and TV in economy class -- plus free beer, wine and spirits in Economy Comfort -- are only part of the new services and amenities Delta Air Lines flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport will begin offering.
The airline will also expand its entertainment library, providing up to 100 movie selections, The Los Angeles Times reported.
"We've been making an investment in our transcontinental service, phasing in full flat-bed seats [in BusinessElite class] and larger Economy Comfort sections," spokeswoman Leslie Scott told The Los Angeles Times.
Scott told the paper that some of the changes added this year come directly from the offerings to customers on Delta's international flights. Others will be added because of customers' requests, namely, selling larger (375 milliliter) wine bottles in economy class, which begins in March. Delta will also start selling Starbucks coffee to all transcontinental customers in the summer.
Here are some of the other changes, according to The Los Angeles Times:
--Economy fliers won't have to spend $6 on in-flight entertainment (but if they want to avoid all charges, they will have to bring their own headphones).
--Beginning in April, Economy Comfort passengers will receive free beer, wine, spirits and "premium snacks" (something more than pretzels and peanuts - but not certain yet), and will be able to watch newly released HBO programs this summer.
--BusinessElite passengers can add sparkling wine to their long haul along with "express meals," or single-plate meals for passengers who don't want to be interrupted for meal requests while on board.
Passengers with more suggestions can provide feedback on Delta's Ideas in Flight program, which they can access for free in-flight, or on the airline's Facebook page.
One passenger suggested a white noise channel as part of the in-flight entertainment - a suggestion that Scott said is currently being tested.
The airline, according to The Los Angeles Times, flies seven daily flights between Los Angeles International Airport and JFK.
