A full moon will occur tonight, February 25. The Full Snow Moon is the only full moon this month and for those who won't be able to see it due to poor weather, the moon will be featured in a live webcast from a telescope in the Canary Islands.
The Full Snow moon occurs this month because the heaviest snows of the year occur this month in North American. The moon is also called the Full Hunger Moon by some because the February snow made hunting difficult for ancient tribes, leaving food scarce and people hungry.
Slooh will be broadcasting the Full Snow Moon live from a telescope in the Spanish Canary Islands off the coast of Africa starting at 3:30 p.m. EST for free.
The moon will be directly opposite the sun and fully lit at 3:26 p.m. EST.
"Using our observatory in the Canary Islands, we will explore the Full Snow Moon, sometimes known as the Hunger Moon, with fascinating stories by astronomer Bob Berman," Slooh president Patrick Paolucci told SPACE.com.
Slooh's live stream broadcast of the Full Snow Moon/ Full Hunger Moon can be seen by clicking here.
The online Slooh Space Camera broadcasts weekly shows highlighting the wonders of the universe. The project began on Christmas in 2003.

One of the great things about June is that it's strawberry season! This is why June's moon is known as the Full Strawberry Moon.
July is when new deer started to have their antlers come in, so the moon is called the Full Buck Moon. In August, the fish population at the Great Lakes was abundant, so the moon is called the Full Sturgeon Moon.
This year's September moon is called the Full Harvest Moon as it will occur close to the fall equinox, but this sometimes occur in October. However the October moon is typically called the Full Hunter's Moon as this is when hunting season really kicks off.
November is when it really starts to get cold, which means it's time to set beaver traps to collect a good supply of beaver fur.
What happens during December? It gets cold. That's why the December full moon is appropriately named the Full Cold Moon.
