This Saloon in Texas from the 1800s is Also Where You Can Find Two Museums

When you think of Texas, what first comes to mind? There's Tex-Mex food, the Alamo, and even the National Basketball Association (NBA) teams that call the state home. Of course, you also cannot forget about the saloons.

One such saloon is known as the Buckhorn Saloon. Opened by Albert Friedrich in 1881, it is now home to two museums that travelers in Texas should definitely visit.

Here is what you have to know about these two museums as well as the historic Buckhorn Saloon.

The Buckhorn Museum

The first of the two aforementioned museums is known as The Buckhorn Museum. Considered as one of the best-known attractions in San Antonio, it promises a full Texan experience.

This museum is home to an exotic animal collection that will fascinate anyone interested in animals. It is also where you can find the saloon mentioned earlier, as well as a cafe and private event space.

The Texas Ranger Museum

It is pretty much a sin to visit the two museums but forget all about the Buckhorn Saloon. According to its official website, "It is where Teddy Roosevelt recruited Rough Riders and Pancho Villa is rumored to have planned the Mexican Revolution."

Many of the original furnishings are still present at the saloon, including the bar. The bar is where you should head if you're looking for locally brewed beers on draft. There is also a café in the premises for those looking for alternative dining option.
