Should you ever find yourself in Hong Kong during the holiday season this year, there is one big event that you should not miss out on. It is none other than the Hong Kong Winterfest 2023.
The Hong Kong Winterfest 2023 will take place until January 1, 2024, in the West Kowloon Cultural District. Visitors can expect "a series of festive events and experiences will also add to the city's jolly ambience," according to its official website.
Here's what you can expect during this year's Hong Kong Winterfest.
Christmas Town
Those who easily fall in love with Christmas trees should visit the Christmas Town, which will be open until New Year's Day. Those expecting to find just one tree will be delighted to discover that there are actually more than one!
The Christmas Town is open 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays until December 21, 2023. On Saturdays and Sundays until the aforementioned date, the opening hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Starting December 22, it will likewise be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
The Christmas Town can be found in Harbourside Lawn West, Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District, Kowloon.
Winter Harbourfront Pyrotechnics
For many, the holiday season will not be complete without the fireworks. This year's Winter Harbourfront Pyrotechnics will take place on the following dates:
- December 9
- December 10
- December 16
- December 17
- December 23
- December 24
- December 25
- December 26
The show starts at 8 p.m. at the Waters off Harbourside, Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District, Kowloon.
New Year Countdown Celebrations
To wrap up the the Hong Kong Winterfest 2023, there will be a New Year's countdown celebration at Victoria Harbour on December 31. The "shooting stars" that will mark the countdown to 2024 will take place at the following times:
- 11 p.m.
- 11:15 p.m.
- 11:30 p.m.
- 11:45 p.m.
A fireworks musical will then take place once the clock strikes midnight, signaling the start of the new year.
