We have put together a selection of cheap excursions or days out in Mallorca for those that have a limited budget. Here you will see that you don't always have to spend a fortune to have a good time. This is in no way an exhaustive list and you may have a suggestion of your own about an inexpensive day out or activity in Mallorca. If you do, let us know.
Cheap Boat Tour in Mallorca
A visit to Mallorca is not complete without taking part in one of the many boat trips on offer. Being an island there is a wide offering of tours in boat and catamaran to suit all pockets. Here is one of our favourite inexpensive boat trips in Mallorca, which is fun, cheap and ideal for the whole family.
Alcudia Bay is an ideal setting for a boat trip, with its stunning coastline, cliffs, pretty coves and idyllic places to stop for a swim. So our suggestion is a 2-hour excursion on a glass bottom boat, departing from Alcudia Port, passing by Aucanada and its gorgeous islet with lighthouse and continuing to Es Coll Baix, one of the most famous and stunning views of Mallorca. At Es Coll Baix you stop for twenty minutes for a swim in the crystal clear waters and then it's time to sail back to the harbour.
Visit One of Mallorca's Caves
Another excellent and inexpensive option in Mallorca is to enter one of the caves for which Mallorca is famous. There are many caves and the ones open to the public are the caves of Arta, Hams, Drach, Genova and Campanet. Exploring the inside of these impressive caves is an unforgettable adventure in Mallorca: you will discover a subterranean world of lakes, stalactites, stalagmites and fantastic rock formations. In many of the caves, the price includes a guided visit with a professional, who will show you the best caverns and explain about how the caves were formed, as well as some history and anecdotes.
The prices vary from one cave to another, though the average is around 16€ (per adult).
Our choice is to the Caves of Campanet, because you can also combine the caves with a visit to the Fonts Ufanes; a natural phenomenon nearby.
Dolphin Show in Mallorca
A visit to Marineland in Mallorca is a top day out for families with kids. It is very popular with visitors to the island thanks to its acclaimed dolphin show, which is the highlight of the day. There is a fantastic sea lion show too and a parrot show. You can visit the reptile house, the aquariums and the aviary; see the flamingos, the penguins and the sting rays. There are swimming pools for small children and there is a beach attached to Marineland where you can relax and perhaps enjoy a picnic.
Once you've paid your ticket you have all the above included and can spend the whole day inside the park.
Visit a Manor House
Before tourism in Mallorca, the island was quite different to now. If you visit Els Calderers Manor House you'll be able to emerge yourself in the history and ambience of the Mallorca of 250 years ago. The route takes you through different parts of the house, showing how the land owners lived and how their staff lived. Every aspect of the house and the grounds is true to how it would have been when it was a working estate.
You can see the music room, the dolls' house, the ladies' drawing room, the gentlemen's office, the family chapel, the kitchens, the dining room, the paintings and much more. As well as this, you have the farm, orchard and gardens where you can see many native animals to the island, such as goats, pigs and horses. At different times of the year there are also demonstrations of the production of typical Mallorcan products with the opportunity to taste, such as wine, olive oil and sobrassada.
These are just four of our suggestions of things to do in Mallorca that won't blow your budget.
