7 Things You Can Never Forget When Traveling

Whether it's for 3 nights or a month, each trip requires special considerations. Discover things not to forget when traveling here.

In 2018, about 1.8 billion people traveled for vacation.

If you haven't been on vacation or traveled in a while, you may be unsure of what to pack. It can be helpful to make a packing list to make sure you don't forget anything.

Whether it's for three nights or a month, each trip requires special considerations. However, there are some things not to forget when traveling, no matter where you go.

Keep reading to find out what you should always remember to bring.

1. Phone Charger

Your phone can be a very valuable asset while you are traveling, whether it be for taking pictures or using it as a GPS in a new place. Since you may be using it more than normal, you want to make sure that you will be able to keep it fully charged.

You may remember to bring your phone on the trip, but a lot of people forget to bring their chargers because they leave it in the same spot every night.

You may charge your phone overnight and forget to throw it in your bag the next morning. You can always buy another one, but they will definitely be way overpriced at the airport.

So make sure that you put your phone charger on your packing list or put it somewhere that you will be able to remember to take it with you. If you have an extra one, you can always keep that one in your suitcase so that you won't ever forget to bring it with.

2. Money and Credit Cards

You won't be able to get very far without your credit cards or some cash with you.

If you are traveling domestically, you won't have to worry about setting up a travel alert for your credit cards. You also won't have to worry about dealing with international fees on your card.

However, if you are traveling out of the country, you should try and bring a credit card that doesn't charge you a foreign transaction fee. These fees can add up quickly and end up adding another cost to your trip.

If you aren't going to use your card, you should exchange some money before you go. Try and find the place that will charge you the lowest fee and then make sure it's packed in your suitcase or wallet!

3. Passports and Other Documents

If you're traveling by plane, you won't be able to get very far without the proper documentation. If you're traveling domestically, you will at least need your driver's license.

If you're going out of the country, you will definitely need your passport and possibly even a visa.

While this may be an important thing to remember, a lot of people still forget to bring it. In addition to making sure you have those, you should also make copies of the documents in case something happens to them.

4. Food and Snacks

Traveling tends to make anyone hungry, and you may not know when you will be able to get a chance to eat.

You may be able to buy food at the airport, but it can be ridiculously over-priced. It can be easier to bring snacks so that you can have them with you wherever you are, and you'll also save money.

When you're packing, you may want to put these in your carry-on luggage so that you have easy access to them on the plane.

5. Universal Adapter

If you're traveling to a different country, you may need to have a universal adapter to be able to use their outlets.

This is a small device that will plug into a socket that is shaped differently than the ones that we have in the United States.

You should get an adapter that has a surge protector built into it because some countries have a higher voltage than the United States does. If you don't have a converter or surge protector, it can end up damaging your electronics.

When you're packing, make sure that this is in your bag or else you won't be able to use your phone charger or other electronic devices for the trip.

6. First Aid Kit

Accidents happen which is why it's important to always bring a first aid kit with you no matter where you travel. Even if it's just a small box with a few bandages and some antibiotic cream, eye drops, and tweezers, it could save you a lot of pain.

If you're walking a lot, you may end up with some blisters which can be easily treated with a first aid kit. You will want to be prepared for each scenario.

You should also have some over-the-counter pain relievers just in case something happens.

Some people always get sick when they travel because they are exposed to new germs and bacteria that they aren't normally used to. You should also find out how to avoid parasites when you travel.

7. Neck Pillow

Lastly, you are likely to be exhausted from all your traveling and adventuring. You will want to take a nap where you can and having a neck pillow can really help you get some much-needed shut-eye.

If you have the middle seat on an airplane, you can't really lean your head on the strangers next to you, but a neck pillow can help you get some good sleep and avoid straining your neck.
