The job of a television news anchor is to report the news, but what happens when the anchor becomes the story?
That is exactly what is happening to WCBS-TV anchor Rob Morrison who, according to Huffington Post , is accused of fighting and then choking his wife.
A New York television news anchor fought with his wife and then choked her at their home and threatened her even after he was arrested, police said, reported Huffington Post.
Officers were called by Morrison's mother-in-law.
"Morrison had been belligerent toward his wife, CBS financial news anchor Ashley Morrison, throughout the night and ended up with his hands wrapped around her neck, leaving red marks," police said, according to Huffington Post.
Morrison was charged with strangulation, threatening and disorderly conduct. He was released on $100,000 bail. He was scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Stamford, Conn., on Tuesday, stated New York Times.
He and his wife issued a statement through their lawyer (Robert Skovgaard) calling the charges "greatly exaggerated," according to New York Times.
"Rob and Ashley Morrison are cooperating fully with the authorities to insure that all of the information necessary to properly evaluate this unfortunate incident is made available," the statement said, reported New York Times
Morrison, who has been a combat correspondent and was a reporter and anchor for WNBC-TV, anchors WCBS-TV's news programs "This Morning" and "News at Noon." His wife, Ashley, worked for Bloomberg Television before joining "CBS MoneyWatch." The couple has a young son, stated Huffington Post
Rachel Ferguson, a spokeswoman for WCBS, said the station would not comment on Mr. Morrison's arrest, "because this is a personal matter," according to New York Times.
