Almost all of us have been bitten by the travel bug. Most of us would love to see the world and experience new cultures.
No budget? You can get paid to travel, instead of paying to travel.
Here are 6 ways to get paid to travel:
1. Teach English.
You can get a teaching job from China, Japan, Mexico and Chile, to Spain or the Czech Republic. You don't have to have a teaching certificate (or teaching experience), but you do need a bachelor's degree (in any subject) and a TESOL, TEFL or CELTA certification.
There are literally thousands of great jobs open for bachelor's degree holders of all types and you don't need to have teaching experience.
2. Become a Mystery Shopper.
It's when a company hires you to pose as a regular customer, so you can evaluate the service you received and report your experience. You become the honest voice of the customer to the business. This is a way for companies to hear the truth objectively without having any feelings involved.
Payment usually includes free lodging, money towards your transportation expenses and a small fee.
3. Take pictures through Instagram.
You can sell your images to the right people if you'll emulate the Instagram feeds of your favorite influencers and learn some travel photography.
The travel company Unforgettable Greece is looking for an Instagram-savvy traveler to spend nine-days in Greece while taking breathtaking photos of your trip. He/she will get paid 550 euros for the job. The travel company will also fund your stay in some of the best hotels in the country and give you a Samsung S10 to take photos.
The ideal candidate is someone "who knows how to capture eye-catching Instagram shots and isn't afraid to throw themselves into different activities and new environments" according to the company.
4. Explore hospitality jobs.
You can get jobs in hotels, resorts, bars, backpacker hostels, restaurants, and other touristy establishments.
However, this route can be hard because it involves back-breaking, labor-intensive work. If you're not picky with odd jobs, you can easily land a position as a front desk attendant, bartender, waitress, and so on.
5. Freelance writing
If writing is your passion, you can work for companies like The Travel Channel which often hires third-party writers.
If travel writing is not your forte, you can even talk about finance, IT, or even product reviews as long as it requires you to travel. UpWork is a super way to find virtual work as you travel. Build up your portfolio to attract clients.
If you don't have a way with words, you can engage in web services, design, programming, anything tech, research or vitual assistant jobs.
6. Work on a cruise ship.
Earn good money while getting a taste of the world, gain some solid work experience, and network with people (both fellow crew and passengers) from around the world.
However, one can expect long hours and hard work for this job. But the two biggest hindrances to travel -- time and money -- are provided to you.
