If you're traveling somewhere new, and you don't have any foodie friends nearby, one new app, Find. Eat. Drink, may be the answer to your search for the best dining spots in your destination.
The app, marketed as the world's first travel guide curated by top tier chefs, sommeliers, bartenders, baristas, pitmasters and food artisans, shows credible references from food industry insiders in your location -- and it's friendly to both the local and the traveler, Gadling.com reported.
App users can choose a nearby option -- within 10 miles of their current location -- or from over 120 cities and towns worldwide. It includes 2,100 establishments from 340 experts with updates added weekly. Once users pinpoint a location of choice, they can visit a website or make a reservation, convenient for "on the go" needs.
Whether you're in the Cajun or the Basque, Boston or Barcelona, Miami or Montreal, this app will point you to great places to go for a bite, according to Gadling.com. The app allows you to narrow your search by region -- so instead of simply "Boston," you can look for "South End" or "Back Bay."
And no need to worry if you have a tight budget -- this app also directs you to coffee and dessert spots, cocktails, farmers markets, butchers, candy shops, ice cream parlors, and even shops that sell culinary antiques.
Well-known chefs like Eric Ripert of Le Bernardin and Andoni Luis Anduriz of Mugaritz, as well as their purveyors, including Allan Benton of Benton's Bacon, and winemakers like Arianna Occhipinti, offer expertise on this app.
The app has a social component, too: users can look up a place, see who recommended it, look at the recommender's profile, go to their recommendations and so on and so forth.
If you don't have a smartphone or don't want to use it, Find. Eat. Drink. has a website, too.
