Free Cribs to Babies Born in 9 Months: IKEA Australia Promises Free Cribs to Babies Born 9 Months After Valentines Day

Swedish retailer, IKEA has made a very special deal with its Australian customers. An ad running in Australia says that they will give a free crib to babies that are born nine months to the day from Nov. 14, Valentines Day.

The Wallstreet Journal reported that all that is needed is the coupon from a newspaper and a birth certificate for proof.

The cradle they are giving away is the $99 Sniglar cradle.

"The special promotion was advertised in Australian newspapers yesterday next to a cut-out coupon and a picture of the cradle beside the words: 'FREE for babies born nine months from today," reports The Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail reported that a couple were also married in a ceremony in an IKEA store yesterday on Valientines day in Sydney.

Chad Martin and Lynne Klanbida got married at IKEA Tempe after they won a wedding of their dreams and had it at IKEA complete with Swedish meatballs at the reception.

"We wanted to get married in IKEA for a very simple reason - we adore IKEA," Lynne said to The Daily Mail. "It felt right to be able to show our commitment to one another by getting married somewhere we both love and to show the world that romance can be alive anywhere, even in the aisles of IKEA. Our visits to IKEA over the years have actually brought the two of us closer!"

IKEA stores are popular around the world for their minimal, low cost furnishings. Now the company has more than 330 stores in 40 countries worldwide.

"The IKEA Concept is founded on a low-price offer in home furnishings. It is based on offering a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible will be able to afford them," states IKEA's website.

The company was founded in Sweden by Ingvar Kamprad who started his furniture business in the late 1940s. "Ingvar's innovative idea was to offer home furnishing products of good function and design at prices much lower than competitors by using simple cost-cutting solutions that did not affect the quality of products," says IKEA's website.
