Emirates Airlines is upping the ante on in-flight entertainment by offering live TV as an option for passenger.
Emirates already offers top amenities, but the live TV addition is something that many are sure to appreciate on long flights. "Installing the type of satellite communication that allows live TV on an aircraft is no easy feat," Adel Al Redha, Emirates executive vice-president of engineering and operations, said according to Breaking Travel News.
Emirates Airlines is currently providing four live channels including BBC World News, BBC Arabic, Euronews and Sports 24.
Having access to Sports 24 will keep sports fans happy as the channel provides live coverage of sports events around the world. With many big sports events coming up like the English Premier League and Bundesliga football matches, coverage of the Australian Open, Wimbledon, US Open Tennis, ATP Tour Masters 1000 Series, ATP World Tour Finals, US Open Golf and the British and Irish Lions Tour, many sport-loving travelers won't have to miss out of the big matches.
For those who don't want to watch TV the whole time, Emirates also allowed passengers to follow the progress of their flight and can watch video from cameras set up outside of the aircraft. Passengers can also made in-flight phone calls to people on the ground or to other passengers on board. They can also send and receive text messages and emails. There are also, 1,400 premium entertainment channels for travelers to watch.
Through satellite technology, the live TV is only available on select Boeing 777 flights over he Middle East, Europe, North Africa and North America, but it will soon be offered across the fleet.
