The Jodi Arias trial is continuing and during the testimony, Arias had a chance to explain why she killed her lover Travis Alexander on June 4, 2008. The sensational case is catching the attention of people across the country. For those who want to see the trial for themselves, there is a live stream video of the ongoing case.
Arias was charged with stabbing her lover, Travis Alexander, 27 times and shooting him in the head. The case has finally gone to trial and attorneys are trying to debate whether Arias had intentions to kill Alexander or if she killed him in self-defense.
Last Monday, Arias admitted killing Alexander in 2008, but claimed that was in self-defense. She maintained that stance while on the stand Tuesday. If convicted, Arias faces the death penalty
The 32-year-old Arias has been giving her testimony in a courtroom in Phoenix. Her testimony is in Day 5 on Tuesday.
Jurors have seen photos of Arias and Alexander engaging in sex and photos of the bloody crime scene, featuring Alexander's dead body.
Arias has been trying to explain a possible other side of her lover. Alexander was a Mormon inspirational speaker, but Arias claims he had a secret side. She says he was a womanizer who was very abusive and she said she killed him because he attacked her.
"He attacked me and I defended myself," Arias told the jury on last Monday, when she admitted to killing him in self-defense.
The couple met in 2006 and became very close. However Arias said he was sexually abusive and emotionally distant which left her feeling used.
On Monday, she told the court that Alexander was sexually attracted to young boys and that he became increasingly abusive towards her. She said she walked in on her lover masturbating to photos of young boys and he admitted he had an attraction to children. He then convinced her to sleep with him to try to cure him of his illness.
"When I walked in, Travis was on the bed masturbating," she told the court on Tuesday. "He started grabbing at something on the bed, and I realized they were papers, and one kind of went sailing off the bed in the chaotic way paper falls, and it fell at my feet, and it was a photograph. It was a picture of a little boy... in underwear or briefs."
Throughout the trial, Arias has explained her relationship with Alexander in explicit detail and there are still more to come as the trial goes on.
