Don Johnson from the popular nineties tv show, "Nash Bridges" has ended a lawsuit aganist a a company that co-produced the show.
On the show, Johnson played Nash Bridges. "The one-hour police drama Nash Bridges follows the high-action exploits of San Francisco police officer Nash Bridges (Don Johnson), a skilled inspector working with the S.F.P.D.'s elite Special Investigators Unit (S.I.U.). Nash must rely on street-wise instincts, a keen sense of humor, and a whole lot of charm to work his magic on the streets of the city," said usanetwork.com.
E! Onine reported that Johnson, 63, sued the production company in 2009 saying that they did not pay him approximately $100 million in royalties.
Yahoo's The Wrap reported that the company, Rysher Productions, paid him $19 million. In 2010 the company was ordered to pay $23 million to Johnson because of profits from the show and interest. Rysher was also ordered to pay $28.5 million in interest on top of that.
Rysher however appealed the ruling on grounds that there was jury misconduct and that the amount was calculated wrongly. "Jurors had initially decided to award Johnson $15 million before deciding, through their calculations, that he was entitled to far more," reported The Wrap.
Last year the California Court of Appeal agreed with the company and said that Johnson should get $15 million plus interest as of July 2010 when then the decision was made.
"In January, Rysher paid Johnson $19 million, and he signed a document bringing the dispute to a close," reported The Wrap.
"Nash Bridges" was popular in its day and had 122 episodes from 1996 to 2001. It also starred Cheech Marin as his sidekick.
"Always at Nash's side is wisecracking partner Joe Dominguez (Cheech Marin), who struggles to balance his partnership with Nash with his life as a husband and father, as well as with his preoccupations with the latest get rich quick schemes. Rounding out Nash's team of intrepid S.I.U. detectives are officers Harvey Leek (Jeff Perry), a dedicated counterculture member and Grateful Dead fan who is a computer and surveillance expert, and Evan Cortez (Jaime Gomez) a gifted investigator who is often compared with Nash in his younger days (and who is also gifted at picking up women)," usanetwork.com said.
Don Johnson's other acting roles include "Miami Vice," "Eastbound and Down" and most recently, in the Oscar nominated "Django Unchained."
