The latest flagship of smartphone maker OnePlus is confirmed to be coming this summer. The OnePlus 5, which is the successor to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, is said to feature high-end specs and dual-rear cameras.
According to a report from The Verge, the company confirmed to them the news about the release of its latest flagship device. The company is also said to be skipping the name OnePlus 4 and moving on to the OnePlus 5 because the number 4 is considered unlucky in China.
The OnePlus 5 will be the fifth smartphone device that the company will be making, but it doesn't have anything to do with the name. The report said that former NBA player Robert Horry, who has the jersey number 5, is one of the main reasons for the device's name. It is said that a number of OnePlus employees are a big fan of Horry and there are actually two paintings of him hanging in the company's Shenzhen office.
No official word yet has been given on what features and specs the OnePlus but it is said to have high-end specs, including a dual camera at the rear. CNET reports that information for the specs and features of the OnePlus 5 have leaked out.
The report said that the device will feature a 5.5-inch QHD display and have a resolution of 2,560x1,440. The dual camera in the rear is said to have 12-megapixel and an 8-megapixel camera in the front.
As for the processor, Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 processor is said to be powering the OnePlus 5 and it will also have 6GB of RAM. A fingerprint scanner is also said to be part of the device's features and it will be located at the front.
The rumored price for the OnePlus 5 is $449, making it a powerful but affordable device. The specs on the device show that it's a good device for people who are business travelers, especially with the Snapdragon 835 powering it.
And with a price tag of less than $500, it's an amazing phone that is worth more than what its price tag. Check out the video below for more news about the OnePlus 5.
