Paris Jackson Appeals For Those With Suicidal Tendencies Not To Watch Selena Gomez’s Project ’13 Reasons Why’

Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson is another celebrity that discourages viewers, particularly teenagers, from watching Selena Gomez's pet project "13 Reasons Why." According to the model, those who are suicidal, depressed, do self-harm, and/or have any trauma, should not watch the show.

The "Wish Upon" star Shannon Purser said that the graphic scenes in the show particularly the scene where Hanna Baker (Katherine Langford) cut her wrist were "triggering." She also wrote, "Please protect yourselves." The "So Good" singer Zara Larsson told her social media followers that the film about rape is "romanticizing" suicide. Singer Perrie Edwards also finds the series upsetting and disturbing.

Paris Jackson who has attempted to kill herself many times believes that watching the show is potentially dangerous to those who have traumas just like her. Jackson got depressed and tried suicide many times after the death of her father Michael Jackson.

Daily News reported that the show has caught the attention of school districts across the United States. The school heads advised parents whose children want to watch the show to watch with them and give them advice about the movie.

Hollywood Life reported that despite the negative comments about the series, many still praise the show because of its realistic depiction of the effects of rape. Langford's portrayal as the victim was praiseworthy.

"13 Reasons Why" is the story of a young girl who was a victim of bullying and rape. Not able to process her misfortune, she committed suicide. But before she died she recorded her ordeal in cassette tapes that she gave to those who caused her pains. The film was based on the 2007 novel written by Jay Asher with the same title.
