Elon Musk Wants To Solve Traffic Problem By Digging Tunnels, First Digging Machine Exposed

Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and Tesla has thought of a way to solve the traffic jam in freeways while he was stuck in an LA traffic. The innovative entrepreneur announced via Twitter his ambitious plan to build an underground tunnel that will serve as alternate routes.

He established "The Boring Company" purposely to build the traffic-free highway. Recently he released a concept video to share the perspective of the tunnel.

According to EnGadget, the underground tunnel will work amazingly hassle free. When a vehicle drives on to a sled platform which is street-levelled, then it lowers down to a subterranean network of tunnels and automatically slides the locked-in car to a high-speed track before spitting it back out to rise to its chosen destination. Pedestrians and bikers can walk into an enclosed pod and just the same rocket it around below the surface.

Lately, the public was able to see the very first digging machine bought by The Boring Company. A SpaceX employee posted a photo of the machine on Instagram. But it was later removed. Business Insider which was the first to spot the machine has saved a copy of the image.

The Verge reported that the 2015 model nicknamed "Nannie" is 400 feet long and weighs 1,200 tons. Musk is an innovator. When trapped in the city's known gridlock, he came up with an idea of a supersonic transportation tubes that have no air called "Hyperloop Alpha." Since then, several companies copied his idea and established their own.

With the perennial traffic problem, Silicon Valley has come up with plans to address the problem. Uber has recently concluded its tree-day conference on flying taxis. While Uber solves the problem going up, Musk wants to help the traffic problem going underground.

With the present innovations in technology, Elon Musk's plan for his boring company has a huge probability of success. His plan of merging AI with the human brain to enable talk-less communication is yet to be proven viable but the underground tunnels seems to have a lot of promise.
