Man, 82, Tackles Suspect: Terry Miracle Helps Washington Police Catch Wanted Felon

A Washington man, 82, tackled a suspect and despite feeling a little sore, he feels pretty good about it.

According to the Associated Press, Terry Miracle or Longview, Washington was doing work in his garden on Friday when he noticed police in a chase for a felon. They were on the hunt for 27-year-old Morgan Perry Bluehorse who was suspected of burglary.

The police were chasing Bluehorse through yards and over fences. Miracle knew he had to do something to help, so he remembered his days as a high school football player and he took action when the suspect ran near his house.

"He was looking back over his shoulder to see where they were, and he turned around the corner of the house and he was coming at me just like the runners used to do when I played football," Miracle said, according to the Associated Press.

Miracle then ran towards Bluehorse and performed a "cross-body block."

"I kicked out my knee, as I always did with a cross-body block, and caught his knee with my knee," Miracle said. "He went down and so did I."

The move knocked Bluehorse to the ground but he got back up again and started running. Luckily the move was good enough to stall him and it gave police time to catch up to him. It didn't take long for an officer to catch Bluehorse by slamming into his chest.

Bluehorse was booked on several charges. He was booked for the second-degree burglary from an earlier incident, and then third-degree theft, trespassing, resisting arrest, obstructing an officer, malicious mischief and methamphetamine possession. Bluehorse already had a no-bail warrant from the Department of Corrections.

Bluehorse's criminal record dates back to 2004 when he faced nine years in prison from robbing 14 businesses in the area.

Toying with the 82-year-old's appropriate name, Longview Police Sgt. Mike Hallowell said "it took a Miracle" to stop Bluehorse.
