'The Walking Dead' Season 8 Showrunner Say Series Will Have Faster Pace, Shows Producers Listen To Criticism

Fans will finally get what they wanted when "The Walking Dead" season 8 resumes in October, as showrunner Scott Gimple says the new season will be faster than season 7. The move not only shows that producers listen to fans' criticism, but they're also willing to do something about it.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, season 8 will finally be featuring the War between the combined army of Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom, led by Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Negan's (Jeffery Dean Morgan) The Saviors. Season 7 has been building up towards this climax and fans have gotten a glimpse of it during the season finale.

And since "The Walking Dead" season 8 will be about the war, Gimple told EW that the new season will have a faster pace. He also noted that season 8 will also contain fewer episodes that focused solely on a community.

"It's going to affect the structure in ways that make it a bit more kinetic, a bit more breakneck," Gimple said. He adds that season 8 also won't be showcasing entire stories in one episode, but stories over several episodes and "little pieces of each story coming together."

The report said that Gimple already knew that season 8 will be different, even while they were still in the beginning parts of season 7. He said that they want "to mix it up" in season 8 and knows its structure will be different.

ComicBook reports that this change of structure shows that the producers of "The Walking Dead" are listening to criticisms of the fans. It also shows that they are willing to do something about the criticisms and come out with a better show.

The report said that Lincoln is even excited for the upcoming season, saying he is "more excited about this season than ever." The actor adds that season 8 will "be insane."

Fans though will have to wait for October 2017 to be able to watch "The Walking Dead" season 8 and the first trailer for the upcoming season is expected to come out in July, during the San Diego Comic-Con. Check out the video below for more news about the hit series.
