Big Bear Lockdown: Christopher Dorner On the Run, Suspected to be in Big Bear, California

Christopher Dorner who has been on the run after killing two policemen, is suspected to be in the Northern California resort town of Big Bear. Authorities have found a torched pick up truck owned by Dorner, 33, and officials have ordered a lock down of local businesses in the area and parents were told to pick up their children from schools, reported The Los Angeles Times.

Christopher Dorner became a cop in 2005 in Los Angeles and in 2008 he was fired from the force, which led him on a vengeful killing spree.

The Associated Press reported that Dorner killed a man and his fiance whose father represented Dorner when he fought for his job. Dorner also ambushed two police officers, killing one of them.

He left behind an expansive manifesto that reads, "I know most of you who personally know me are in disbelief to hear from media reports that I am suspected of committing such horrendous murders and have taken drastic and shocking actions in the last couple of days. You are saying to yourself that this is completely out of character of the man you knew who always wore a smile wherever he was seen."

Now residents in Big Bear are locking up their shops and staying in doors.

"We're all just stressed," said Andrea Burtons to The LA Times. "I have to go pick up my brother and get him home where we're safe."

Police ordered a 9:30 a.m. lockdown of the area. "Footprints were found leading from Dorner's burned pickup truck into the snow off Forest Road 2N10 and Club View Drive in Big Bear Lake," reported The LA Times.

San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon said that although authorities had deployed 125 officers for tracking and door-to-door searches, officers had to be mindful that the suspect may have set a trap.

"Certainly. There's always that concern and we're extremely careful and we're worried about this individual," McMahon said. "We're taking every precaution we can," said San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon to The LA Times.

"He could be anywhere at this point," McMahon added.

Lt. Julia Engen of the Irvine Police Department said to ABC News."We are considering him armed and dangerous."
