‘Friday the 13th: The Game' Will Launch Without The Single Player Mode, Will Come As Free Update Sometime In The Summer

Gun Media has released a new trailer for "Friday the 13th: The Game," but the trailer only showed that the game will have multiplayer mode when it launches. This means the single player mode will likely arrive as a free update sometime in the summer.

According to a report from Game Spot, the trailer revealed that the game will be released on May 26, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC for the price of $40 for the digital game. The game was a Kickstarter funded project that was supposed to launch in 2016 but was delayed to 2017.

The report said that the game is a 1v7 asymmetric multiplayer, where seven camp counselors will try to survive against one player who will be playing Jason Voorhees, the masked killer. The trailer also revealed locations that players can explore and some of Jason's executions.

The single player mode will be a free update that will likely arrive sometime in the summer. Players will also have three maps to choose from which includes Camp Crystal Lake, Packanack Lodge, and Higgins Haven.

GameRant reports that the lack of single player mode and with only three maps to choose from makes the game feel incomplete. But the "Friday the 13th: The Game" looks more like a "love letter" to the horror movie franchise.

The game will offer players an 80s atmosphere and plenty of reference to the original films. Plus, it allows players to play the masked killer Jason instead of just trying to run away from him or defeat him.

The report said that Gun Media's lack of content and the absence of a single player mode could be overlooked by the game's devotion to the source material. Nevertheless, there are players who might wait for the single player mode to become available before they decide to purchase it.

Fans will likely know when the single player mode arrives when the game launches on May 26. Check out the trailer for "Friday the 13th: The Game" in the video below.
