Microsoft ‘Surface Phone’ Possible Not To Push Through, While Windows Mobile OS Needs To Be Revamped

The Microsoft "Surface Phone" has been one of the most intriguing smartphone devices, since the company announced its possibility last year. But with the lack of update or announcement, many are speculating whether it will even come out and one probable reason is the unpopular Windows Mobile OS.

According to a report from Blasting News, the excitement for Microsoft's smartphone device has already dwindled. This is due to reports that the device is being pushed back with its release, with some even saying it will be released in 2019.

The delay has frustrated people who are awaiting the "Surface Phone" and some are even doubtful about its actual release. The report said that one of the difficult things that Microsoft has to deal with is that not a lot of people really care about a Windows smartphone, and that has more to do with the Windows Mobile OS.

For the Microsoft "Surface Phone" to work, the company would first need to convince people that its mobile OS is something that can compete with the likes of Android and iOS. But an upgrade would need to happen first, considering that the Windows Mobile OS is lax when it comes to maintenance and it lacks apps that can help it compete with other mobile OS.

An example of this is Spotify's recent announcement that they will be leaving the Windows 10 Mobile, which will give people who love the music streaming app less reason to switch to the "Surface Phone." Droid Report said that the ultimate mobile device that Microsoft is boasting about might not actually even be a smartphone.

The company is said to create a smartphone that can also work like a laptop or a book, which means the device could be a foldable laptop that allows it to transform into a smartphone when it's folded. The report said it would be a great device that makes the "Surface Phone" the most secure smartphone if rumors are true.

With the smartphone market already dominated by Samsung, Apple, and Google, Microsoft might take its time before it decides to join the fray. An update to its Windows 10 mobile would probably be a good start for the company. Check out the video below for more news on the Microsoft "Surface Phone."
