Ice Destinations: From Canada to Romania, Yes, These Places are Really Made of Ice

If you love the winter so much that even the snowfall in your home city or town doesn't satisfy you, you may like to visit one of these six destinations completely made of ice, compiled by MSN Local.

1) Hôtel de Glace - Quebec City, Canada - The word "glace" means ice in French, so the Hôtel de Glace, quite literally, is an ice hotel. It opened for its 12th season on January 6 and remains open until March 25. Although this was previously the site of the Quebec Zoo, today none are left, and only humans willing to endure the cold visit its quarters. The hotel includes a sauna under the stars in its Nordic area, and a Grand Ice Slide.

2) ICEHOTEL - Jukkasjärvi, Sweden - This hotel is located just 125 miles from the Arctic Circle in a small, largely canine-populated village. The hotel is "created" year-round, beginning with the spring harvesting of 4,000 tons of water from the Torne River, a process that continues through the winter, when about 50,000 people pilgrimage to the site.

3) ICEBAR - Various locations, including London, Copenhagen, Istanbul, Oslo, Stockholm, and Jukkasjärvi, on the ICEHOTEL site - Everything here, including the glass your cocktail comes in, is made of ice. Speaking of cocktails, ICEBAR has some chilly beverage options as well, including the Northern Light (Absolut Raspberri, Crème de Cassis lime, raspberry puree) and the Torne River Punch (Absolut Vanilla, Malibu, Pineapple).

4) Kirkenes SnowHotel - Kirkenes, Norway - This hotel features "snow suites" designed by a professional artist. Guests also embark on artic adventures - driving a team of huskies, fishing for king crab, riding a snowmobile and searching for the Northern Lights.

5) Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel - Sorrisniva, Norway - This hotel features a different theme each year - this year, artisans spent five weeks creating the hotel themed around Norse mythology. If you start feeling chilly, a heated service building offers a bathroom, changing, a sauna and restaurant facilities.

6) Hotel of Ice - Balea Lac, Romania - Perched at 2,000 meters, this place, which includes an ice bar, ice restaurant and ice church is built out of ice cubes cut directly from Balea Lake, along with some ice and water.
