The reality show "Survivor: Game Changers" is currently airing the 34th season. The latest voted out contestant Jeff Varner has recently revealed that he lost his job for outing Zeke Smith in the reality show.
In an interview, Varner shared the sad reality of losing his job because of the "Survivor" show. He said he has been fired as a real estate agent with Allen Tate Companies, reported Greensboro. The website also adds that Varner's former employer has released a statement citing the reason for firing him.
Varner adds that he is told that he is "in the middle of a news story that we don't want anything to do with," as per aforementioned source. Varner could not talk about that sensitive episode until it was aired. After the episode has aired, he feels that the true healing can begin.
Those who are new to "Survivor: Game Changers" should note that it is a reality show on CBS. Contestants struggle to win the title and take home $1 million. In the 34th season of the show, a total of 20 contestants took part to snatch the prize money.
In the recent episode, contestant Varner, 50, was eliminated from the show by his fellow contestants during the vote out. The tribal council, where the elimination takes place, did this due to Varner's actions in outing Smith as a transgender in the show.
To defend himself, he said that he was not aware that Smith has not gone public with this reality. But that did not help to protect him from getting voted out by rest of the cast who went in favor of Smith.
After this incident, Varner has come out to give interviews to several outlets. But this does not seem to help him achieve forgiveness for outing contestant Smith. The latter says that transgender people are very vulnerable and therefore become easy targets.
It is great to see Varner's hateful tactics has been rejected "with such amazing love and from such a diverse group that responds to him," Smith explains to People. Since the time that incident took place, Smith finds it difficult to accept his apology and forgive him. He says, "I've had to think a lot about what forgiveness is," as per aforementioned source.
